An Impersonation of Truth: Kristian Meets Truth

The figure darted from shadow to shadow in the dimly lit alley. He wore a hood that hid his facial features. He eventually arrived at the door he was hoping to arrive at. He knocked and waited. The peephole slid open.

“Who is it?” the voice grunted.

“It’s Deception.”

“What do you want?”

“I’m looking for Dr. Compromise.”

Deception removed a photo from his trench coat pocket and held it up for the doctor to see. It was a photo of Truth. “I know you’re a good surgeon, I need you to make me look like Him.”

The doctor grunted with humour, “You can never be Him, Dee. Never!”

“I know Doc, but if people thought I was Him, I would get more followers. Just tell me if you can do it.”

“What are you willing to give?”

“A thousand or more souls.”

“Come by tomorrow, we got a deal.”

The white Buick sped along the open road, Truth was heading towards Falcity, a town that seemed to need His presence. Lights in the distance caused Him to slow down as he came to a checkpoint. Officers were standing by. They came towards Him when he stopped by the boom gate. The officer came to his vehicle as Truth rolled down the window.

“Where you going?” asked the officer with a look of annoyance.

“Falcity,” replied Truth.

“Got some ID?”

“If you don’t know me, an ID won’t help.”

“Falcity has banned you,” said the officer with a threatening tone.

“Really?” Truth asked as he slid the gear to reverse.

“Yeah, they said if we ever saw you, we should blow you to bits,” said the officer. He snatched his revolver from his holster, but the Buick was already accelerating backward. Gunshots were fired as Truth turned the car around and sped off into the night. He looked into the rearview mirror and noticed two motorbikes following him, giving chase. Truth stepped harder on the gas pedal, and the car surged forward with a roar. Bullets ricocheted off the white bodywork, and gunshots echoed. A bend in the road appeared, and the white Buick drifted before straightening up, and the bikes followed in an awkward angle.

The distance between the Buick and the bikes were diminishing as they revved harder to catch up. In the distance ahead, a blue Pantera was parked in the middle of the road. Truth slammed the brakes, bring the Buick to a halt to avoid a collision. The bikes braked but couldn’t stop in time and turned to the left and right, causing the bikes to slide horizontally across the road. The door of the Pantera opened, and a man walked out. He pulled out an AK47 and rested it upon his right shoulder. The man wore denim jeans with trainers, a white t-shirt and a grey parka.

“What do we have here?” his snide remark stung the air.

The officer to his right got to his feet and reached for his gun. In a swift movement, the AK47 swung down, and a shot was blasted. The officer flew back, landing on the ground, unconscious. He spun around and shot at the bike that lay on top of the other officer. The bike blew up in flames. The man walked towards the white Buick as Truth rolled down the window.

“Hello, Truth! How are you tonight?”

“Who are you?”

“My name is Kristian,” he said as he offered his hand, “I’m a fan.”

Truth ignored the offer and reached into the console and pulled out a card and offered it to him. Kristian took the card and looked at it. On it was the name ‘Love’ and an address. The card was white, and so was the writing, which made him wonder how he could read it?

“What’s this?” Kristian asked.

“Please pay her a visit.”

“Because you seriously need to…”

“I don’t understand. The Truth is all I need.”

“Unless you fully know her, you cannot fully know me…”

Time Lapse

They say that you only live once. Yet people gather possessions as if they are going to live forever. As if they will somehow gain immortality by working harder and harder. They say tomorrow is never promised, but in reality, it is. It’s just in a different location. Therefore, whatever we do, should be for that location. The treasure you gather here will be stolen, lost and rot, but if your heart is based on eternal things, it will last forever.

Death is inevitable, for it is appointed unto men to die once, and after this judgment. And one day you will stand face to face in front of God and He will ask you;

“What did you do with the life I gave you?”

What will we say? That we spent years studying to get a degree? That we obtained a good career? That we got that job and earned a lot? That we married that special person? Had kids? Got that promotion? Got that car? That house? Visited that wonderful place on holiday?

And God will then ask you;

“Where are all those things now?”

Because this world will be gone forever, a new one is coming. So everything you do here will not even be a memory! And then, in that moment of eternity, all that you ever strived for will amount to nothing. Everything you held dear in this world will be meaningless.

Strange enough, all that we do for ourselves will be turned to dust, but whatever we do for God and for others out of love will last forever. Every word of encouragement will be recorded and every deed of charity will resonate in eternity but whatever you accomplished for selfish gain will perish.

In these last days, there are many lovers of themselves, who indulge in gratification and think that God is blessing them when in fact, the devil is just fattening the calf for the slaughter!

So look to Christ and align your affections to His. Keep Him at the centre of your focus, the centre of your life. He is life so you should eradicate all fear of losing yours. Would you rather use your life to change eternity or lose your life absolutely nothing?

Pilgrims Creed 2

I visited a caravan park recently and I took notice of the tents, caravans and cabins. It struck me that none of the dwellings were permanent. They could easily be removed. They had no foundation or anything that could keep it down forever.

Just like us, we are here for a short amount of time. Life is but a mist that fades away but what comes after is eternal.

We cannot base our major decisions on what happens in this world, we cannot chase that which fades away like the wind. We need to set our eyes on what lasts forever.

What you do for Christ will resonate throughout eternity. What you do for yourself will rot in the grave….

So it is vital that we keep our eyes upon Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. This race will one day come to an end. The finish line matters about how well you ran, not what you managed to pick up along the way. Your possessions won’t matter, your job, your career won’t matter. What you did will matter and that is what will affect your eternity.

I once attended a funeral that took place in a Catholic church in Pietermaritzburg. As I sat in one of the rows of wooden pews, I felt out of place since I am not familiar with the rituals and traditions of Catholicism. It was a heart wrenching atmosphere, the echoes of sorrowful sobs reverberated off the stained glass windows as the beloved family members mourned the loss of a loved one. Eventually, the service ended and a hub hub of chit chat began to escalate outside the church in the parking lot. Many of the family members who had never seen each other for decades greeted one another with elation. It was a reunion!

And I began to think, that just as many of us have lost a loved one, one day we will see each other in the Great Reunion. Our sorrow is only for a short moment but our joy will be eternal…..

So remember, until you take your last breath, until the return of Christ, whatever you do, do it for the glory of God. The time is short, but the devil’s time is even shorter, so hold fast onto the faith that you confess for our redemption is nearer than when we first began.

Romans 12:2

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

And we wonder why some people just can’t seem to figure out God’s will for their lives! They are so worldly that they follow every other plan except God’s wonderful plan. We can’t just be a Christian on a Sunday and live like a pagan the entire week.

Don’t invest your life in this world! You will only lose everything because the stocks are going down big time.

Place your live in the hands of God and you will never regret it.

My Testimony

I should not have existed.

But God had other plans.

After my Mum married my Dad she found out that she was barren. My parents were not willing to accept this so they decided to go on a forty hour fast. Shortly after, my Mum became pregnant. This didn’t really please some people so they stated that since that some relatives of my Mum were mentally challenged, I would be the same. On the spiritual side, there were many efforts made to take my life. My Mum would recite Psalms 91 over me everyday.

A woman gives birth after 36 weeks. After 40 weeks, my Mum had experienced no contractions whatsoever. Calling the doctor for advice, they were told to come to the hospital immediately. They decided to perform induced labour in order to start contractions so that I could be born. It didn’t work. I just couldn’t come out. They had to resort to Caesarean birth.

They gave my Mum a shot of Epidural which numbs you from the waist down. My Mum held my Dad’s hand as the scalpel sunk into the flesh along the lower stomach. The excruciating pain that my Mum felt caused her to crush my Dad’s hand and he commanded the doctors to give the anaesthetic. After my Mum became unconscious, my Dad was told to leave the operating theatre.

After they had managed to remove me surgically, they called my Dad in, who at the first glance, thought I was deformed. My head was elongated, (Guess it was all the brain power!) but since the skull of an infant is not well structured yet, my parents massaged it to shape. They then took me to get me cleaned, and while I was in the hospital, the nurses tried to feed me. They were unsuccessful. So they didn’t. I just wouldn’t eat. I started to turn blue because I needed  nutrients. In the nick of time, my Dad returned to check up on me. He saw what happened and made sure I ate something. He scolded the nurses for their negligence.

So with the many attacks against my existence, I know one thing for sure, that I’m alive for a purpose. God has purposely saved me from many tragedies that could have happened. I’m here for a reason and I will not back down in my faith. I have too much proof to let it all go.

I may not see the finish line but I know why I started running.

You may say  “I wish my life was like that” but in all truth, it is. We come so close to death every day that we just don’t see it. In my case, the dangers could be seen and death may have seemed close but every one faces it even if they are oblivious to the fact. God has a plan for your life! There is a reason why you are breathing right now…….

Just because your life feels like nothing is happening doesn’t mean that God isn’t using you. He is preparing you. God is protecting you from danger you don’t even know about.

So after a while, my Mum broke down because I wasn’t eating. I just wouldn’t eat! My Dad decided to take over. He used a syringe to feed me just so that I could get some nutrients into my body. It was a while before I started eating normally.

My Dad taught me the Bible everyday. In fact, he made sure that I knew the books of the Bible in chronological order so that I could find any scripture in a flash. We would have sword drills where I would verse my sister to see who would open to the scripture the fastest. I’m sure you know who won….

I memorized a lot of Biblical verses and when I came to sunday school, everyone assumed I knew everything.

But I wasn’t a Christian….

No one is born a Christian. It is a decision you have to make to serve Christ wholeheartedly. My Dad decided we needed to be baptized. So attending a baptism study, the pastor asked if anyone had not accepted Christ as their saviour. That wednesday night, the 21st of January 2009, I made the best decision of my entire life.

I was baptized four days later at the age of 13. So I have been a Christian for almost a decade! And yes, the journey has been glorious! I’m very much excited for what is to come in the race that lies ahead…..

Gifts – Love = Nothing

We live in a time where the Church has become gift oriented. This is a tragedy.

Why? You may ask…?

Let’s look at 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

13 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

It is evident that without love, whatever you do means zilch. Zero. Nada.

You can preach, you can heal the sick and cast out demons and speak in tongues but if you do not have love, your works amount to nothing. The problem with Christians today is that we are looking for signs of gifts instead of fruit.

Let’s look at Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Nobody looks for fruit anymore, as long as some guy is performing miracles, they automatically believe that he is a true prophet.

Jesus gave this command in Matthew 7:15-20

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

You may ask…but Kristian, if someone does miracles, does that not mean God is working in them?

Let’s look at Romans 11:29

29 For God’s gift and His calling is irrevocable.

That means, God doesn’t take back the gifts after they have been given to you. Some translations say that the gifts are without repentance indicating that the person could be doing right but living wrong.

We need to look for fruit because that is true Christianity, Love. Love is what got us saved in the first place.

If you don’t have love don’t preach. – Theo Msomi

Now let’s look at the most frightening scripture in the Bible…

Matthew 7:21-23

21 Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Wait a minute now, those people did great stuff yet Jesus claimed to have never known them…

WHY? Because they didn’t function in love. Love is important. It is indeed the Foundation of Christianity because God is love. Rejecting Love is rejecting God. If you don’t love, you hate. And hate is murder. And no murderer can enter the kingdom of heaven. So love with everything you have, and the Holy Spirit will manifest the gift in you to fulfil a need in someone.
