Time Lapse

They say that you only live once. Yet people gather possessions as if they are going to live forever. As if they will somehow gain immortality by working harder and harder. They say tomorrow is never promised, but in reality, it is. It’s just in a different location. Therefore, whatever we do, should be for that location. The treasure you gather here will be stolen, lost and rot, but if your heart is based on eternal things, it will last forever.

Death is inevitable, for it is appointed unto men to die once, and after this judgment. And one day you will stand face to face in front of God and He will ask you;

“What did you do with the life I gave you?”

What will we say? That we spent years studying to get a degree? That we obtained a good career? That we got that job and earned a lot? That we married that special person? Had kids? Got that promotion? Got that car? That house? Visited that wonderful place on holiday?

And God will then ask you;

“Where are all those things now?”

Because this world will be gone forever, a new one is coming. So everything you do here will not even be a memory! And then, in that moment of eternity, all that you ever strived for will amount to nothing. Everything you held dear in this world will be meaningless.

Strange enough, all that we do for ourselves will be turned to dust, but whatever we do for God and for others out of love will last forever. Every word of encouragement will be recorded and every deed of charity will resonate in eternity but whatever you accomplished for selfish gain will perish.

In these last days, there are many lovers of themselves, who indulge in gratification and think that God is blessing them when in fact, the devil is just fattening the calf for the slaughter!

So look to Christ and align your affections to His. Keep Him at the centre of your focus, the centre of your life. He is life so you should eradicate all fear of losing yours. Would you rather use your life to change eternity or lose your life absolutely nothing?

Pilgrims Creed

Welcome Traveller.

We are only passing through so time is short. Make the best of what you can do. Every decision should not be for the program but for what comes after. Every decision matters! Due to some agents who have gone rogue, there are some pilgrims who have lost their way. If they are spotted, please make sure that you inform them of the right path. Some might not believe you but make sure you do. Do not be involved in anything in this journey that has no effect on what comes after. The very terrain you tread on will be destroyed. What you have been given will be lost but what you have been promised will remain. Whatever foundation you build will be lost. Every affection on the terrain will be in vain. All memories of the terrain will be lost. Your time with other pilgrims will be the only thing that will be worth it. Make every effort to keep your eyes on the trail. Do not find any comfortable spots, this will cause you to remain complacent on the terrain and thus lose sight of your mission. There will be agents to help you along the way. Stay on the trail and do not listen to anyone who is from the Rogue Force. They can lead you astray.

Warning! There are some pilgrims who have become traitors and will try their best to stop you. This calls for your endurance and perseverance. Never give up. If you lose your way, follow the light. Keep you eyes on the map at all times, it will lead you. Don’t lose your sword, it is there to protect you.

I wish you a prosperous passage on your journey.

Till we meet again, Traveller.

License To Drive

I had this weakness with driving. I knew that one day I needed to get my license but I couldn’t drive! I couldn’t get clutch control, and every time I changed gears I had to look at the gear lever and I would go off the road. I just couldn’t grasp the fact that your eyes had to be on the road, on every mirror, on the speed gauge and the blind spot! It was unreal and impossible!

I then was called to an interview. They were quite pleased with my resume but they needed someone with a license. They told me:

You have one month to get your license…

You have got to be kidding me right? What I couldn’t do in four years, you want done in one month?!

Anyway, I wanted the job, so I started going for lessons and praying a lot! Like a lot! I got better and better at it. A lot of people told me to pay a bribe and pass but I refused to dishonour my God. They all told me that I was going to fail because I was doing it fair. There was a lot of odds against me. The car I was learning to drive with broke down! I had to use a different car and that meant I had to get used to that clutch.

I asked an elder from my Church (Brother Leon) to pray for my driving test. He gave me the most encouraging words:

Yes be righteous in all your ways. God is honoured in our lives when we honour His word….

I then realized something. There was no need to fear or worry. If all this was happening in God’s will and plan, all I have to do is trust His purpose.

I eventually went for the test and everything seemed surreal. Like a flash of time passed until I was back at the office signing a form stating that I had passed. The inspector telling me to go to the cashier. Yes God is honoured in our lives…

Unfortunately, the job was taken when I had obtained my license,  but I realized two things:

  1. God arranged all this so that I could overcome my fear and weakness of driving.
  2. In order to prepare me for what He has in store for me.

I can do all things through Christ…..(Philippians 4:13).

Til’ Death brings us together…

Everyone dies, but not everyone has to fear death. Some are so afraid of death that they do everything to escape it as if it was possible to avoid that day.  You can’t run from something that is inevitable. Some, however, embrace it in the hope that they can escape from their hard life situations. Suicide seems like a possible solution but it is selfish and futile. The irony is that while someone is fighting for their life in the ICU, another wilfully takes their own life.

Suicide doesn’t take away the pain. It only passes it on to others. It’s practically throwing away the wonderful life you never knew you had.

The fear of death is proof that there is an afterlife. No one is afraid of nothing. If dying is just decomposing in the ground, there wouldn’t be nothing to fear.

What people actually fear is accountability.

No one wants to be judged for their sins. They don’t want to repent from them either. They fear that when they see God face to face, they will be filled with regrets. They, however, contemplate a time for repentance for a later time in their lives but death can strike at anytime, sometimes unexpectedly. A Christian should never fear death, because just like Christ, we will rise again. And besides, death is the last enemy to defeated.

Without death, there can never be life.

These are 3 incidents where I almost died but I know for a fact God saved me from it:

  1. I was working in a workshop and I had pulled up a half ton motor off the ground using a crane. I was separating it from something so I was opening bolts. there was four. When I came to the last one, it wouldn’t come out. For some reason it wouldn’t budge. I brought it down and found that if I did pull out the last bolt, that half ton motor would have swung and hit me probably crushing me.
  2. At the same workshop, I was told to climb up a ladder on the second platform. I was told to pull a cable that was probably 30m long. I kept pulling it until someone shouted for me to stop. That person ran to the switch and turned off the power. Little did I know, at the end of the cable was raw live wire that could hold 380v. That type of current will melt you on the spot.
  3. After work at a plant, I walked out of the gate and crossed the street. I sat on a pavement that was quite far from the road that was rushing with traffic. A minibus taxi comes out of nowhere and starts overtaking all the cars, its wheel grinding the kerb. In a moment, I spun and jumped out of the way in the nick of time as the taxi scraped the kerb that I was sitting at just seconds ago.

The fear of death should not be confused with the natural instincts of the brain to avoid danger.

We will all meet each other one day, until then, live like Christ.

Gifts – Love = Nothing

We live in a time where the Church has become gift oriented. This is a tragedy.

Why? You may ask…?

Let’s look at 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

13 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

It is evident that without love, whatever you do means zilch. Zero. Nada.

You can preach, you can heal the sick and cast out demons and speak in tongues but if you do not have love, your works amount to nothing. The problem with Christians today is that we are looking for signs of gifts instead of fruit.

Let’s look at Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Nobody looks for fruit anymore, as long as some guy is performing miracles, they automatically believe that he is a true prophet.

Jesus gave this command in Matthew 7:15-20

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

You may ask…but Kristian, if someone does miracles, does that not mean God is working in them?

Let’s look at Romans 11:29

29 For God’s gift and His calling is irrevocable.

That means, God doesn’t take back the gifts after they have been given to you. Some translations say that the gifts are without repentance indicating that the person could be doing right but living wrong.

We need to look for fruit because that is true Christianity, Love. Love is what got us saved in the first place.

If you don’t have love don’t preach. – Theo Msomi

Now let’s look at the most frightening scripture in the Bible…

Matthew 7:21-23

21 Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Wait a minute now, those people did great stuff yet Jesus claimed to have never known them…

WHY? Because they didn’t function in love. Love is important. It is indeed the Foundation of Christianity because God is love. Rejecting Love is rejecting God. If you don’t love, you hate. And hate is murder. And no murderer can enter the kingdom of heaven. So love with everything you have, and the Holy Spirit will manifest the gift in you to fulfil a need in someone.

So I have this annoying smartphone that drives me crazy! It keeps on freezing and when I need to do the most important things, it decides to take an interval. It is most fortunate when you are in a rush and you need to get something done and then everything goes still motion picture.

So i tap the Instagram icon an that gives a command to the motherboard of the smartphone to open the application. The CPU spins to obey this command. However, if your RAM is too full or too slow, the action is delayed or not carried out at all.

I have a Hisense smartphone. One must understand that Hisense also makes refrigerators and this is why my device always freezes.

Sometimes I get so mad at this phone I literally take it and smack it against a wall or any solid object around me. Not too hard otherwise, I’ll break my phone. And no, it doesn’t change anything.

I wonder how God feels when He gives us a command and we don’t do it? Or we delay the action we were supposed to carry out? Yet God isn’t ever really mad at us. He is always caring and never hates us. He loves us all the time. If our lives depended upon obedience, all of us would have been dead by now. But here we, dressed in Grace and because of the Cross, we have eternal life and many second chances.

So when you are given a command, do your best to carry it out with swiftness, because someone might be depending upon your action, and you could miss the opportunity of changing someone’s life. Don’t be frozen. Move.

So remember, next time your smartphone or laptop freez—-

Movie Time

Have you ever wondered how movies are made? It all starts with a picture. A picture contains  many pixels that make it up. The more pixels used, the higher the definition and clarity of the picture. Now take that picture and create many different ones like frames. Change the frames couple times a second and it creates the illusion that the picture is moving.

Movies are an illusion…

The thing about movies is that there is a message in them. I believe that unless you learn something from a movie, there’s no point in watching it. The message must be something inspirational and not a worldly influence. You might not like to hear the rest of this post because I’m going to say something that might be unacceptable to some but I think everyone should know this. A Christian should not watch movies that can affect them negatively in a spiritual way. Matthew 6:22-23 says the following: The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes is good, your whole body will be filled with light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness…..

If this be the case, we should be careful what message of indoctrination and brainwashing is being conveyed via movies.

Pureflix and Sherwood Pictures are two main producers of Christian movies like Do you believe? (2015) by Pureflix and Courageous (2011) by Sherwood Pictures. But the best movie produced was when these two collaborated to film Moms’ night out (2014). It was the most hilarious movies I have ever seen.

I really recommend this movie Matchbreaker (2016) for anyone to watch. It has an amazing message that it conveys throughout the entire movie. It made me laugh so much that my parents came to check on me to see if I was okay. Ben Davies acts there as well, he is a Christian actor who plays a part in the movie Uncommon (2015).
Uncommon (2015) is about a Christian guy decides to stand up for Christ no matter what the consequences may be…

A Christian should not watch a movie that contains the following:

  • Blasphemy, where they use the name of Jesus and God in vain or mock Christianity
  • Sex scenes or pornography
  • Foul language and profanity
  • Gratuitous violence

So we come to this dilemma….

What if I’m watching a movie and I don’t know if there is anything wrong with it? How would I know if a movie is bad if I haven’t watched it? And sometimes we have watched a movie halfway and then there’s  an ungodly surprise. But because we are so engrossed in the movie, we don’t switch it off and continue to watch till the end. In my personal experience I have stopped the movie 5 minutes into the movie because of swearing, sometimes an whole hour into it because I couldn’t handle the content…

So what do we do?

Well here is the solution….

We go to the IMDB site…

We enter the name of the movie onto the search bar. As an example, I am going to search for the Paul, Apostle of Christ (2018).

I then select the movie that I want to find out about. I then scroll down to Parents Guide. I select that tab….

It will then give me the genres of scenes that this movie contains….

Now you may ask: why would a Christian movie contain two scenes of sex and nudity? That’s because it doesn’t! They pick a scene and place it in that genre. For example, Paul may expose his torso because he is getting flogged or a couple is kissing. This guide is extremely strict in the sense that if a woman walked with a dress up to her knees in the movie, it would be recorded here.

For violence and gore would be the persecution the Church faced under Roman Law. Again, this guide is strict, if someone is slapped or pushed, it is recorded here. It is best if children don’t watch violent movies.

Profanity is where all the bad words are recorded. In this movie, someone calls someone a ‘hell hole’. Be careful what foul language the movie you want to watch contains.

Alcohol, drugs and smoking is also a genre to inform if it is in the movie.

The last genre is frightening and intense scenes. This will be filled up to the brim in horror movies. I don’t recommend horror movies has the sole purpose of the movie is to incite fear into the viewer. 2 Timothy 1:7 says; For God has not given us a spirit of fear…

So there we have it, this is how you can determine what movies are appropriate to watch. However, some movies are obvious in the title like Fifty shades of grey, that is a sick masochistic movie and in it’s unbelievable how people will pay to see a movie featuring sexual abuse. This is not of God and a Christian should not watch such trash.

So may you guard your mind and your heart by what you choose to see. God bless.
