I visited a caravan park recently and I took notice of the tents, caravans and cabins. It struck me that none of the dwellings were permanent. They could easily be removed. They had no foundation or anything that could keep it down forever.
Just like us, we are here for a short amount of time. Life is but a mist that fades away but what comes after is eternal.
We cannot base our major decisions on what happens in this world, we cannot chase that which fades away like the wind. We need to set our eyes on what lasts forever.
What you do for Christ will resonate throughout eternity. What you do for yourself will rot in the grave….
So it is vital that we keep our eyes upon Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. This race will one day come to an end. The finish line matters about how well you ran, not what you managed to pick up along the way. Your possessions won’t matter, your job, your career won’t matter. What you did will matter and that is what will affect your eternity.
I once attended a funeral that took place in a Catholic church in Pietermaritzburg. As I sat in one of the rows of wooden pews, I felt out of place since I am not familiar with the rituals and traditions of Catholicism. It was a heart wrenching atmosphere, the echoes of sorrowful sobs reverberated off the stained glass windows as the beloved family members mourned the loss of a loved one. Eventually, the service ended and a hub hub of chit chat began to escalate outside the church in the parking lot. Many of the family members who had never seen each other for decades greeted one another with elation. It was a reunion!
And I began to think, that just as many of us have lost a loved one, one day we will see each other in the Great Reunion. Our sorrow is only for a short moment but our joy will be eternal…..
So remember, until you take your last breath, until the return of Christ, whatever you do, do it for the glory of God. The time is short, but the devil’s time is even shorter, so hold fast onto the faith that you confess for our redemption is nearer than when we first began.
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
And we wonder why some people just can’t seem to figure out God’s will for their lives! They are so worldly that they follow every other plan except God’s wonderful plan. We can’t just be a Christian on a Sunday and live like a pagan the entire week.
Don’t invest your life in this world! You will only lose everything because the stocks are going down big time.
Place your live in the hands of God and you will never regret it.
